Crassula

This large group are natives of South Africa and Madagascar. Succulents in this group vary greatly in size, shape and colour. Some varieties only grow an inch high at maturity, while others become large shrubs.

CULTIVATION TIPS
Easily cultivated, Crassulas require a free draining mix and good light to keep them compact, encourage good leaf colour and promote flowering. Water regularly during spring and summer then reduce watering during winter months. As plants grow they can become untidy, and should be cut very short or restarted from cuttings. Drought tolerant. Prone to mealybugs.

Crassula alba var. parvisepala

South Africa. A shrubby plant to 50cm tall by 90cm wide. Green leaves spotted with red. Showy white and red flowers - requires pleanty of sun to flower. Keep reasonably dry in winter. Sun/part sun.

Crassula alpestris

An unusual plant with triangular leaves densely stacked along short stems like pyramids. The leaves turn deep crimson over winter and spring. Masses of tiny white flowers in late summer. Keep reasonable dry for the best colour. Sun/part sun.

Reaching a height of 3m, this is a large and impressive looking single-stemmed, many branched shrub. The grey-white leaves are thick and fleshy. Star-like, white to pink flowers. Sun/part sun.
