Native to Africa, the genus Huernia consists of between 30-60 species of stemmed succulents. The flowers are five-lobed and bell-shaped, often striped vividly in contrasting colours. They attract flies by emitting a scent similar to that of carrion.
Summer growers. Water well during the summer months and less during winter. They are tolerant of very hot conditions when grown in filtered sun. This also serves to promote autumn flowers.
