A fascinating miniature succulent that perfectly mimics pebbles and desert stones. Lithops, commonly known as Living Stones, grow as tiny paired leaves that split to reveal new growth each season. Their colours and patterns vary beautifully — from greys and browns to soft pinks, greens and speckles — making each plant a unique natural gem.
Compact, quirky, and highly collectible, Lithops are ideal for sunny windowsills, small pots, and decorative bowls across Australia. A must-have for collectors of unusual succulents.
🌿 Care Tips
🌞 Light
Thrives in bright light and full sun. Ideal for sunny windowsills. In very hot regions, provide light afternoon shade during peak summer heat to prevent scorching.
💧 Water
Lithops have a strict watering rhythm:
-
Spring–early summer: Light watering only when the soil is completely dry.
-
Mid‑summer: Minimal water.
-
Autumn: Main growth period — water sparingly when dry.
-
Winter: Do not water while old leaves are being replaced. Overwatering is the most common cause of failure — less is best.
🌱 Soil
Use a very fast‑draining mix. A gritty blend with pumice, coarse sand, or small stones is ideal. Lithops dislike moisture around their roots.
🌡️ Climate
Prefers warm, dry conditions. Best kept above 10°C. Protect from heavy rain and frost in southern states. Performs exceptionally well indoors in bright positions.
🌿 Growth
New leaves emerge from the centre as the old pair shrinks. Lithops rarely produce offsets, so each plant remains a neat, single “stone.” Repot only when necessary — they prefer tight spaces.
All succulents are sent bare rooted (most of the soil removed) by Express Australia Post at the start of each week. You will receive a shipping email for tracking if you provide us with your email address.
